The Ukrainian tennis player Alexandr Dolgopolov announces his retirement from professional tennis. Dolgopolov, who turned professional in 2006, last played in 2018 as the last few years he was severely hampered by injuries.
“I never get the achievement means records that I want to realize when I was a tennis player, but I hope I played entertaining tennis for fans. I had a dangerous injury in my wrist during my practice in Australia. I felt pain, but nothing serious. I have the chance to reached the Australian Open third round and returned to Europe, but I never expected that it would be the last time with this great game for me.
I’ve tried for a couple of years, and I still have pain”.
Dolgopolov's last appearance was in Rome Masters in 2018, where he lost Against Djokovic 6-1 6-3.
